For just the third time this season, Jody Gerut played in center field for Portland, going 0-for-4 in what could be one of his
final tuneups before joining the Padres this weekend. According to the U-T, the Padres are likely to recall the 30 year-old
outfielder before Friday's game against Colorado.
Speculation is that Padres center fielder Jim Edmonds could be released
to make room. Gerut is currently hitting .308 with five homers, 18 RBI's, nine doubles, and four stolen bases for the
Beavers.

The U-T article also reports that left-hander Shawn Estes will join the team before tomorrow's game in Atlanta. If Wil
Ledezma struggles, the 35 year-old Estes could start next Tuesday in Chicago. If Ledezma does enough to stay in the
rotation, Estes would likely be used in long relief.
