'VOTE FOR ADRIAN' T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE AT ZAZZLE.COM by Jason Martinez posted 5/28/08 Because MLB rules state that each team must be represented by at least one player in the All-Star game, Adrian Gonzalez is practically a shoe-in to make the NL team. Not only is he deserving of a spot on the team but with his latest hot streak, no one would complain if were to get the starting nod ahead of Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Lance Berkman, Mark Teixeira, and many other big names. Unfortunately, he plays in the small market of San Diego, where most games don't end until after 1 AM in the morning on the east coast. Translation: not everyone in the country is very familiar with Gonzalez and are more likely to vote for someone they see everyday. Gonzalez also plays half of his games at Petco Park, which is unfair when comparing statistics with Berkman and Howard, who play most of their games in some of the hitter-friendliest parks in baseball. Still, the 26 year-old is second in the NL in homers (15) among 1st baseman, behind Berkman. He's second in RBI's (44) behind Berkman. He's third in slugging percentage (.566) behind Berkman and Pujols. And he is, by far, the best defensive first baseman (.998 fielding percentage) in the league. In honor of the great season that Adrian is having, I have designed a t-shirt to support the cause.
