WHERE ARE THEY NOW? DRAFT UPDATE 2007 (Rounds 11-22) by Jason Martinez posted 6/04/08 11 357 Shane Buschini of San Diego CA: The 23 year-old out of USD hasn't hit many homers (4 HR in 251 AB's) in parts of two seasons but his 23 doubles and 38 RBI's is impressive. He's a bit old for Fort Wayne so he'll have to put up huge numbers if he is to become a prospect. 12 387 Luis Martinez c Cumberland (Tenn.) TN: The Padres like the potential of this 23 year-old, although he's struggling with the bat down in Fort Wayne (.198 BA, 2 HR, 7 RBI in 41 games). He does, however, have 28 walks and 30 strikeouts, a sign that he's not getting completely overwhelmed. 13 417 Allen Harrington lhp Lamar TX: After posting a 2.09 ERA between Eugene and Fort Wayne last season, the 21 year-old lefty is at it again. In 57.2 innings, Harrington has a 3.59 ERA to go along with 53 strikeouts and just 10 walks. 14 447 Keith Conlon of Texas Christian TX: Earned a mid-season promotion to Fort Wayne after an impressive showing at Eugene, where he batted .324 with 2 HR and 6 doubles in 21 games. The 25 year-old outfielder has been on the restricted list since the season started for undisclosed reasons (at least not any reason that I have found in my research). 15 477 Ryan Hill of Rutgers NJ: Batted just .213 for the AZL Padres last season but had an OBP of .362. Has been playing in extended spring training and should get a shot with Eugene when they start play in a few weeks. 16 507 Robert Perry of Long Beach State CA: After impressing at three different levels last season (AZL, LE, FW) and batting .300 with 6 HR and 18 SB's, Perry struggled in Lake Elsinore (.165 BA in 38 games) and was recently demoted back to Fort Wayne, where he is off to a 9-for-21 start. 17 537 Brandon Gomes rhp Tulane LA: Gomes started 11 games last season, but has pitched primarily in relief this season for Fort Wayne. In 36 innings, the 23 year-old right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts. 18 567 Robbie Blauer 1b UC Santa Barbara CA: Batted .276 with a .397 OBP and more walks (36) than strikeouts (32), but hit just one homer in 58 games. The left-handed batter should be back with Eugene this season. 19 597 Adam McDaniel rhp Georgia GA: Pitched out of the bullpen in 19 games between Rookie League and Eugene, posting a 4.34 ERA with 14 walks in just 18.2 IP. He should be part of the Eugene bullpen when they start their season. 20 627 Robert Woodard rhp North Carolina NC: Pitched effectively in 23 relief appearances (3-2, 3.89; 40 K's in 34.2 IP) for Eugene last season. Now pitching for Fort Wayne, he's posted a 3.89 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 44 innings. 21 657 Tyler Davis rhp Hawaii HI: The 23 year-old has just been average this season (4.18 ERA in 22 games at FW) after a dominant 2007 season (3-0, 0.83 in 16 relief appearances for AZL Padres; 1.13, 8 IP, 0 BB, 7 K in 6 games for Fort Wayne) 22 687 Keoni Ruth 2b Concordia (Calif.) CA: The AZL was no match for Ruth (.439 BA, .500 OBP, 5 2B, 4 3B in 19 games) last season but he's struggled ever since. This season, the 23 year-old Ruth is hitting just .216 for Lake Elsinore. |
